Hippodrome Holiday Book Fair!

We're having a fundraiser! As many of you know, the cost of tickets alone isn't enough to cover all of the expenses of putting on the shows that we do at the Hippodrome. This makes periodic fundraisers necessary. We've got a great one for you on Friday and Saturday, November 23rd and 24th. The best part for you is that it doesn't actually cost you any money! Just go to Barnes and Noble, do your holiday shopping as usual, and present a copy of the voucher on the right with your purchase. Barnes and Noble will give us a percentage of each sale that has a voucher with it! To get the voucher, just click on it and print it out. Please spread the word to your friends and family. This is a great and easy way for you to support the arts in Waco. There will also be other activities there such as a ticket drawing for the upcoming Michael Martin Murphey Cowboy Christmas show, reading stories for children, gift wrapping, and more. We'll see you there!

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)

There was so much going on in Waco last night that some of you missed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). Compare notes with your friends who went and you'll be kicking yourselves for not making it. The show was great! It's one of the funniest shows we've ever had at the Hippodrome. Everyone had a blast and they may have even learned something. (Aside from the fact that Shakespeare's tragic heroines do not all wear really bad wigs and vomit all over everything before they die.)

I wish we had some good production photos, but not yet. Here's a shot of the cast though:

Man of La Mancha

Man of la Mancha was one of the most gorgeous productions I've ever seen. I saw the show on Broadway for its 2003 Revival, and this production was every bit as good. If you saw it, you were indeed lucky! The best seats in the house are getting harder to come by. If you don't have tickets for our upcoming shows yet, now would be the time to get them!

This production was sponsored by Central National Bank. They are another of our beloved sponsors who have been with us for quite some time. It's as simple as this: we couldn't do the shows without them. Let the great folks at CNB know that you appreciate their support for the arts. They do so much in our community to make this a better place to live.

Panera fed the crew again, and it was well-received as usual. If you haven't gone out there yet for some great food, don't wait any more! It's too good!

This show was a technical feat to set up! Take a look at these pictures from setup:

Again, it was such a beautiful show. I hope you got to see it. We'll see you again soon for The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged).
